Being a forklift operator is a very serious responsibility that if taken lightly can end in lethal accidents, which is why multiple agencies are responsible for reviewing this work and granting operating safety standards in order to protect the integrity of workers. Among others no less important we can summarize them in the following list. Pay attention, practice and don't forget any of them.
Before operating the forklift, make sure you have received proper training and are authorized to operate it.
Before starting the forklift, make sure all levers and controls are in the neutral position.
Make sure the load is stable and balanced before lifting it.
Always use the seat belt when the forklift has one available.
Never exceed the maximum load weight allowed.
Keep a safe distance from platforms and ramp edges.
Pay attention to other vehicles in the work area.
Maintain clear visibility of the work area and make sure you have enough clearance while lifting, loading, and operating a forklift.
